Healthy Relationships

How to develop relationships:

  • platonic

  • romantic

  • familial

Friends

Platonic Relationships:

Maintaining platonic relationships is not always easy. Especially friends made at different stages of your life as people don't always grow in the same ways. Friends made from childhood, or through teenage years either from school or work or any outside hobbies are all different. Sometimes, friendships might have to end if interests grow in opposite directions and life might drift you apart. Don't worry that's natural. However, if you don't want this to happen there are ways to keep friendships alive by chatting online or meeting up regularly either just for catch ups or to go places and do something such as see a film. These little things shows you care about your platonic relationship and want it to remain.

Romantic Relationships:

As being a part of couple, judging romantic relationships can become tricky and complicated. Depending on what stage the romantic relationship is in can affect how people act around each other as they have different levels of comfort, for example a married couple would act differently than a two week relationship. However there are some things which are consistent across all such as being; respectful, honest, loyal, reliable and caring.

Family in the kitchen

Familial Relationships:

Within a family, there are many different relationships to consider. There are between siblings, between parents and children, between grandparents and grandchildren and between aunts/uncles and cousins. Arguably, some relationships are naturally going to be closer than others. For example, parents and children and siblings would naturally be closer as they spend everyday together whereas cousins some might only see couple times a month or per year. To maintain relationship it is good to be honest and open but also to be yourself. You might not be compatible with some of your family if you have different personalities, however you can still enjoy your time together if you acknowledge you won't agree on everything and try to have fun together.
